Welcome to Fred & Apple and thank you for visiting!

The creations available at F&A are all handcrafted by myself Tamara and my best friend, my crafting mentor and teacher, my Mum, Vicki. As you have likely realised, we are a family of women that do not sit still well! Very rarely will you find us sitting down without crocheting, embroidering or sewing.

The happiness we see when gifting something that we have made with love and care fills us with joy, however, we realised 12 months ago that we can only gift our family and friends with so many crocheted blankets, shawls, shrugs etc. We also know that if we don’t craft, we may expire! The result of that realisation is Fred & Apple Handcrafted.

F&A currently have the sweetest crocheted tops in our store and as the weather cools again around April/May, we will have a line of cardigans for sale as well. Vicki loves to make afghans and as a result, they will also be listed as they become available.

Aussie Aussie Aussie!!! We are passionate about using Australian made yarn and will do so when and where possible. As Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunts we realise the importance of using yarn that is appropriate for the climate in Australia. Our home is Central Queensland so winters are relatively short, but we also know that in other states, the cool weather can be a part of life for a lot of the year. With our differing climates and comfort for children in mind, 100% cotton has been chosen by us as our preferred medium. In this first line there are 2 colours that at the time we began crafting were not available from an Australian supplier. The other colours are from Bendigo Woollen Mills and any further lines will be made using colours available from BWM. Their yarn is fabulous to work with, soft to wear and easy to care for.

Each of the tops for sale take several hours to make. The larger sizes take approx 10hours of crocheting, with this in mind please note that at this stage, the stock listed on the site is all that we have available. Whilst we would love to make to order all year round, time restrictions make this impossible. If you have a request, or a colour you would like to see, again, please email and we will endeavour to fulfill your request. However, please note the turn around time could be up to 8 weeks.
